Continuous Improvement: August 2025

At Courier Graphics, continuous improvement is more than a policy—it’s a culture powered by our amazing employees and awesome collaboration across every department. From enhancing production flow to supporting sustainable printing practices, each improvement reflects our shared commitment to excellence in catalog printing, magazine printing, and instruction manual production. These updates keep us running efficiently as a premier Southwest printer, delivering outstanding quality and service to our clients.

CSR Department

Job Folders Relocated for Efficiency

Our CSR team optimized workflow by relocating the job folder boxes directly into their office. This small but impactful move saves about 30 seconds per job by eliminating trips down the hallway—streamlining communication and improving turnaround times. It’s another great example of employee feedback leading to awesome collaboration and better service for our catalog and magazine printing clients.

Copy Room Cleaned & Organized

The CSR team decluttered and reorganized the copy room, labeling supplies and creating an intuitive system for paper and office materials. This makes the space easier to navigate, saves time during busy shifts, and fosters a clean, productive environment for our amazing employees.

PrePress Department

New Laminator for Durable In-House Signage

The PrePress team added a new laminator that allows us to produce sturdy, long-lasting in-house signage. This improvement not only saves costs but also supports sustainable printing practices by reducing waste and protecting printed materials from wear and tear.

Paper Stability Box for Drill Press

To prevent paper from slipping off during drilling, the team built a custom containment box for the drill press. This simple innovation keeps paper secure, maintains consistent production flow, and reflects employee feedback turned into actionable improvement.

RBA Rules to Streamline Workflow

By implementing Rules-Based Automation (RBA) in Prinergy and related systems, PrePress reduced repetitive tasks and increased consistency. These smart workflows enhance accuracy and efficiency across catalog and magazine printing projects.

Low-Res Proofing Machine Cleaned & Tuned

The team thoroughly cleaned the low-res proofing machine’s print heads and key components, producing sharper proofs and more accurate color previews—an essential step in ensuring top-tier quality for our instruction manuals and catalog printing jobs.

Plate Tracking & Filing System Update

PrePress introduced a new plate remake chart to monitor production and minimize future rework. Updated filing methods ensure that all auto-processed jobs are properly recorded, further improving reliability and reducing waste in our sustainable printing process.

Shipping Department

Oversized Shelf Labels for Better Organization

Larger, clearly printed shelf labels now help our shipping team identify and restock materials faster. These upgrades streamline the fulfillment process for catalog and magazine printing orders, ensuring quick turnaround and minimal downtime.

Box Display for Quick Selection

A new organized box display helps teams choose the right size packaging for each order—reducing assembly time, cutting waste, and improving efficiency. It’s a practical improvement inspired by employee feedback.

Delivery Transfer Box & Water Station

The team designed a secure transfer box to stabilize smaller deliveries during transport and added a cold water refill station to eliminate single-use bottles—advancing our sustainable printing and workplace wellness goals.

Repurposed Client Cups for Sustainability

Unused branded client cups found new purpose at the water station. This creative reuse reduces waste and reinforces our ongoing commitment to sustainable printing and eco-conscious operations.

Extension Cord Rerouted for Safety

The team rerouted a dock extension cord from under the door to along the wall—improving safety, convenience, and workspace organization.

Accounting Department

Client Payment Page Branded & Simplified

The accounting team revamped our client payment portal with new branding, an intuitive layout, and simplified navigation. This improvement enhances the client experience and reflects the professionalism our Southwest printer brand is known for.

Wall-Mounted Filing Boxes for Transparency

New wall-mounted filing boxes now clearly display Pre-Invoices, Drafts, Portal Invoices, and Final Billing stages. This system increases visibility, reduces confusion, and promotes awesome collaboration across departments.

Bindery Department

Cement Floor Leveled for Safer Workflow

By leveling a cracked cement floor beside the Primera, the Bindery team eliminated a hazard that caused the stacker to jam. The smoother surface improves safety and efficiency—critical for large-scale catalog and instruction manual printing.

Tickets Available on Storefront

Bindery tickets can now be ordered individually through our internal storefront, making access quick and convenient for all departments.

Shrink Wrapper Relocated for Better Flow

The team relocated the shrink wrapper to a more spacious and accessible area. The new position improves usability and leaves room for future upgrades to faster equipment.

New Metal Stairs for Perfect Binder

Replaced worn wood steps with sturdy metal stairs, improving safety and saving time for operators working on large catalog printing runs.

Hoist Cords Organized for Smooth Operation

Bindery tidied and secured the hoist cords near the perfect binder, allowing for smoother, safer, and more reliable use of heavy equipment.

Sheetfed Department

Labeled & Organized Supply Shelves

The Sheetfed team systematically labeled all shelves for inks, parts, and supplies. This organizational upgrade reduces downtime, improves workflow, and makes every print run—especially high-volume magazine printing—more efficient.

Sales Department

Sample Area Cleaned & Consolidated

Sales streamlined the paper sample area by removing outdated books and grouping marketing samples and materials on the same shelves. The new layout saves time, improves collaboration, and helps showcase our sustainable printing options more effectively to clients.
